McLaren officially introduces the 675LT Spider

The British sports car manufacturer has recently taken the wraps off the all new 675LT Spider, which has a starting price of 285,450 pounds.

According to the company the new roadster version has been delivered due to “significant customer demand,” with the 675LT Spider very close to its roofed relative, the 675LT Coupe, in wearing a very dynamic and aggressive body – we have a massive front splitter, new side skirts, as well as an active Longtail airbrake that has grown by 50 percent in size compared to the rest of the Super Series variants. The high-performance roadster also received a titanium dual exhaust system that we can safely assume will deliver astounding sound levels, as well as bespoke 19- / 20-inch ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels clad in P Zero Trofeo R tires. Naturally, the main area of interest when buying the 675LT Spider will be the retractable hardtop that can be operated at speeds of no more than 30 km/h (19 mph).

Lightweighting is a predominant theme inside the cockpit with the convertible using lightweight carbon fiber-shelled racing seats covered in leather upholstery and complete with 675LT lettering. As a standard the model has been left barren of the air conditioning system (it can be added back free of charge), saving 16 kg (35.2 lbs). Production is limited to 500 vehicles and pricing starts at a high £285,450, with first clients set to receive the new model next summer. Under the hood sits a “heavily revised” twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine complete with new turbos, modified cylinder heads and updated exhaust manifolds. Also new are the lightweight connecting rods, high-flow fuel pump and crankshaft and all these translate into 675 PS (666 bhp / 496 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque – up 25 PS (24 bhp / 18 kW) and 22 Nm (16 lb-ft) compared to the 650S Spider. And with a weight of just 1,270 kg (2,800 lbs), the convertible will do the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 8.1 seconds, topping out at 326km/h (203mph).
