FCA also adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to Uconnect



Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are providing at the 2016 CES in Las Vegas a glimpse of the new fourth-generation Uconnect system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.


Apple and Google are gaining more automotive followers, as their connectivity apps are on a high demand from customers wanting to link smartphones with cars. Fiat Chrysler has announced the launch of the fourth generation of Uconnect systems with brings capacitive touchscreens, performance improvements of faster startup time, enhanced processing power, heightened touchscreen responsiveness, vivid touchscreens with improved resolution and brightness, the Uconnect 8.4 NAV system. The update will also include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

FCA is also heading to CES with a digital technology concept display that explores future intelligent transportation technologies “to help drivers achieve Car. Life. Balance.” As an example, the system is able to monitor driver’s daily habits, including traffic patterns, personal calendar events and personal preferences so the Uconnect can deliver personalized information to the driver at the exact moment needed or it can enable vehicles to communicate with each other and the roadside.

Finally, company’s third showcased on the Electronic Show is a 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit featuring police-exclusive Uconnect 12.1, which has a 12.1-inch high-resolution touchscreen display and the ability to toggle to a law enforcement officer’s computer via a menu bar at the top of the screen.
