Audi to Begin Production of Electric SUVs in Brussels by 2018

Audi have recently announced that it will begin production of their electric SUVs in Brussels by 2018. The Brussels plant will be producing Audi’s first all-electric SUV, the 2019 Audi Q6 e-tron.

The 2019 Audi Q6 e-tron, otherwise known as the Audi e-tron Quattro concept revealed at the 2015 IAA, will be entirely produced and assembled in Brussels. It’s the Audi A1, which is currently being produced at the Brussels plant, that is making place for the future electric SUV. The 2019 Audi Q6 e-tron will feature three batteries, providing SUV with a total range of more than 500 kilometers. The batteries will also be produced at the Brussels plant.

With the Q6 e-tron going in production at the Brussels plant, the Audi production network is undergoing a significant shift in operations. The production of the Audi A1 will be moved to the Martorell production plant in Spain, while the Audi Q3 will be moved from Martorell to Audi’s production plant in Györ, Hungary. In Hungary, the Audi Q3 will join the production of four other Audi models. The Audi A3 Sedan, A3 Cabriolet, Audi TT and Audi TT Roadster are already being produced at the Hungarian production site.
