The 4th generation Toyota Prius is an important car for the company. The Prius and its hybrid syblings have sold more than 8,000,000 units since first introduced more than a decade ago. Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda kept the new car off the market for a year while his designers labored to give it more visual appeal and higher fuel economy ratings.
Now the 2016 Toyota Prius has been officially introduced and some people wonder what all the fuss was about. The new car is evolutionary rather than revolutionary in terms of both style and efficiency with a little more interior room and slightly more upmarket appointments. Company officials insist it will handle with more authority and less of the wimpy ride characteristics the Pruis has been known for. We will have to wait until the car actually goes on sale before we will know if that promise has been fulfilled.
Rumors persist that an Eco version of the 2016 Toyota Prius is in the works, one that will reportedly get about 60 mpg in regular driving.
